Playing God has never been easier. Creating mutant plants is so simple that high school science students have been doing it for years. Unfortunately, it can go dangerously wrong.
Playing God with Plants
Tobacco was the first plant to be genetically engineered in a lab setting.
Why?
Because it simply had the easiest genome to manipulate using early gene technologies.
Now we have countless GMO tobacco strains. One even glows in the dark! (With genes from fireflies – no kidding.)
However, just because it’s easy doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have limits on what we can and should do in the lab.
I gave this highly scientific presentation to explain what can go wrong when there aren’t any guardrails to help limit unforeseen and even dangerous consequences of playing God with plant genetic engineering.
Oh wow Keep us posted. Hope your passport is up to date you may need it. Get well soon don’t overdo it !!
